Gardens PR firm wins $2.5 million copyright infringement suit

A Palm Beach Gardens marketing and public relations company has won a $2.5 million verdict from a federal jury that found an online singles dating site stole its copyrighted web design.

The verdict, that was upheld by U.S. District Judge Beth Bloom on Monday, means Strategic Marketing Inc. will be paid for the work it did for Events & Adventures, a subscription-based website that organizes activities for singles in roughly 10 cities across the country. After a nine-day trial this month, jurors also found Great Blue Heron Software LLC assisted in what they said was willful copyright infringement.
