Join us Sept. 23, 2016 for the 2016 Ev Clay / PRSA Miami Chapter Endowment Fund Luncheon, where we’ll honor Steve Rothaus and Christine Barney, APR, for contributions to the community and the public relations profession in Miami.

Rothaus, a staff writer at The Miami Herald covering LGBT issues in South Florida, will receive the Royal Palm Award, which is presented to a member of the community who embodies and demonstrates key values of the public relations profession and who has made a significant contribution to Miami-Dade County. A Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Rothaus has been recognized by numerous organizations for his reporting on issues and news affecting the LGBTQ community. These include the Miami-Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, which named him “Business Person of the Year” in 2010, and the National LGBTQ Task Force, which will present him with the 2016 Eddy McIntyre Community Service Award in October.

Barney is CEO and managing partner of rbb Communications, a four-time national “Agency of the Year.” She is the author of “The Breakout Brand ™ Strategy: An Evolutionary Approach to Creating Customer Passion.” She is immediate past chair of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and is accredited by the Public Relations Society of America. Barney will receive the PRSA Bill Adams Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her impact on the field of public relations. The award, named after nationally admired educator and public relations professional Bill Adams, recognizes exceptional leadership and contributions to the public relations profession.

In addition, eight promising public relations students will each be presented with an Ev Clay/ PRSA Miami Endowment Fund scholarship at the luncheon.

The luncheon raises funds to support the Ev Clay/PRSA Miami Endowment Fund, one of PRSA’s largest and oldest chapter-operated scholarship funds, which provides financial resources to South Florida students with a public relations interest. Since its establishment in 1985, the fund has awarded nearly $200,000 to more than 130 deserving students.
