The LaGrones, who’ve been on the West Palm Beach/Treasure Coast boob tube for six years, are headed to Tampa.
Paul LaGrone, 38, is set to become one of the star anchors at the city’s ABC affiliate WFTS.
Katie tells us she’s still negotiating with a potential employer on Florida’s Left Coast.
An investigative reporter, Katie got under the skin of Palm Beach Country Sheriff Ric Bradshawlast yearwith a series about the high number of shootings of unarmed civilians by PBSO deputies.
Bradshaw publicly denounced the station as anti-cop.
Days after the stories aired, LaGrones were visited by case workers with the Florida Department of Children and Families acting on an anonymous tip that one of their two children was left to play outdoors without supervision.
Months later, PBSO Det. Mark Lewis in a recorded phone call with a woman obtained by Gossip Extra told how he staked out Katie LaGrone’s house, describing where she lives.
DCF declined to release information about the person who filed the complaint that LaGrone wasn’t watching her kids. The department cleared the couple after a short investigation.
“That didn’t affect our decision to go,” Katie LaGrone told us. “It’s all good. We’re leaving because Paul’s family lives in Tampa and he’s getting a great job. We always go places as a family. We are very excited about it.”
Paul LaGrone won’t likely miss his grinding WPBF schedule: He’s been starting his work day around 2:30 a.m.
