Llorente & Cuenca, a leading public relations firm in Spain, Portugal and Latin America, has acquired 70 percent of Miami-based PR firm EDF Communications, including the company’s operations in Latin America. Terms were not disclosed.

EDF’s 12 employees in Miami and additional staff in six Latin American countries will be integrated into the Llorente & Cuenca operations. The companies have had a collaborative relationship for 10 years, according to an EDF statement.

Spain-based Llorente & Cuenca said the acquisition is intended to strengthen work with international businesses interacting between the U.S. and Latin America, corporate meetings in Miami, and business litigation and transactions.

EDF founder and chief executive officer Erich de la Fuente will join Llorente & Cuenca as a partner and CEO of U.S. operations.

A Greenberg Traurig team that represented Llorente & Cuenca on the deal were shareholders Charles Stiver and lead attorney Antonio Peña of the Miami office and Todd Wozniak of the Atlanta office and associates Juan Delgado, Henry Roque and Evan Kanter, all of the Miami office.

EDF was represented by Matt Katz, partner, and Lindsay Kessler, associate, of Katz Barron Squitero Faust in Fort Lauderdale.
