I Love National Night Out!!

About National Night Out:

I go every year to National Night Out at Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach and it is always a wonderful event! Last night I had the pleasure of meeting Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel and many others who help keep our communities safe. I am so thankful that Sheriff Israel is a strong proponent for the CIT program to continually educate police on how to handle cases involving the severely mentally ill. Sheriff Israel is also an ambassador for the National Alliance on Mental Illness Walk along with “Help Me Howard” Howard Finkelstein)

About the event:
Sheriff Scott Israel and the men and women of the Broward Sheriff’s Office hosted the annual “National Night Out Against Crime” yesterday, August 5. BSO deputies and firefighters were on hand at 10 different locales with useful crime prevention presentations and answered questions about how to help fight crime in your neighborhood. Citizens were encouraged to leave their porch lights on as a show of support. In the evening, neighbors met up at National Night Out Against Crime locations, where there was burgers, chips, dogs and drinks along with displays and demonstrations by BSO specialized units, including bomb and arson, SWAT, K9, marine patrol and mounted patrol. BSO vehicles were be on display, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue hosted paint the fire truck and there was other entertainment (a great band! Bounce Houses and more!). All events are always free of charge.
