The Cultural Council of Palm Beach County received top awards for best public relations event and best house publication at the 13th annual American Business Awards on June 22 in Chicago.

Break the Ice, a public relations event produced for the 2014 Governor’s Conference on Tourism in Boca Raton, featured rapper and entertainer Vanilla Ice, Ballet Palm Beach and the Palm Beach Symphony. It earned the council a gold Stevie Award.

The council’s magazine, art&culture, won a silver Stevie Award, tying with Bon Appetit’s Bravo magazine for best house publication.

Marilyn Bauer, the council’s director of marketing and government affairs, accepted the awards named for the Greek word meaning “crowned.”

More than 400 nominees attended the banquet at the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park Hotel.
