Throughout the remainder of this year, I have the privilege of working alongside your Florida Festivals and Events Association Board of Directors and staff to create a Strategic Plan for FFEA which will guide our organization for the next five years. As we prepare for the coming year, I am reminded of how lucky we are to be able to draw upon the extensive and diverse experiences that our members possess. FFEA volunteers have long been the cornerstone of our organization and your efforts have placed our organization in a position to be at the forefront of the event industry. In order for us to continue this important work and to continue to advance our organization’s strategic plan, I need your help.

Some of you have been active in FFEA and others are new to the profession and the organization. I want to assure you that all of you have something you can contribute. There are opportunities for everyone to help – from short projects to ongoing opportunities in FFEA’s committees and other groups.

Listed below are FFEA’s volunteer opportunities. Please take the time to review the list to see which of your skills or interests match the needs of the organization. We are always looking for people who are creative, problem solvers and strategic thinkers. If you are interested in any of the committees below, simply reply to this email and an FFEA staff member will schedule a time to discuss your involvement.

If you commit to helping us execute FFEA’s mission and strategic plan, I know from my own experience that you will build your network, develop your knowledge and strengthen your leadership skills. FFEA is committed to providing opportunities to all of its members to further their professional development. Training and support are provided to our member volunteers to ensure your success. Your FFEA colleagues and the FFEA Staff are ready to work with you to make this a great year!

Membership Development Committee
FFEA Membership Development Committee is a mix of event professionals and industry partners who volunteer to personally engage current and potential members of FFEA. The committee assists with design and implementation of membership recruitment and retention programs and member benefits. They serve as a resource and sounding board to FFEA’s staff on the development of strategy and campaigns. Through this engagement, the committee creates a sense of community— face-to-face and virtually— that enhances the membership experience and strengthens the organization.

Regional Interest Groups
Regional Interest Groups are designed to assist with executing educational seminars and networking events in their designated region including location, speakers, socials and sponsors. Each regional committee will plan at least one event in their region per year. This is a great opportunity to get to know your industry peers in your immediate area.

Marketing Committee
The Marketing committee supports the FFEA staff in creating and implementing marketing strategies to recruit and retain members and promote FFEA events through Social Media, Printed Materials, Mobile App and Web Content.

Annual Convention Committees
The 20th Anniversary FFEA Convention & Tradeshow will take place August 13-15th at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort in Orlando, FL. The following committees will assist in the planning and execution of all facets of the Convention. Committees meet virtually by Conference call once per month between December – August.

  • SUNsational Awards Committee – Assists with SUNsational Media Awards process and Awards dinner.
  • Program Committee – Offers speaker suggestions and assists with booking and selection. Acts as room hosts onsite during event.
  • Hospitality Committee – Helps with greeting attendees, taking tickets, Coordinates Hospitality Suite.
  • Entertainment Showcase Committee – Solicits and schedules entertainment showcases. Introduce acts and work with Production Company on setup.
  • Silent Auction Committee – Collects Silent Auction items. Setup items for display and oversees auction during Convention.
  • Sponsorship Committee – Forward sponsorship leads and ideas and works to help secure new sponsors and ensure sponsor fulfillment and satisfaction during event.
  • Tradeshow Committee – Produces tradeshow including logistics and vendor registration.
